FEB 26/2021
Week 1 Practicum 1
Today, was my first time doing my practicum at the Alfred Binet high school and I could observe two of the English classes both in elementary level (2° and 4° grades), so for this day, I did not apply any activity and only helped to the main teachers of these grades to solve students’ doubts. At the same time, the purpose of this first visit, it is knowing the different pedagogical mechanisms and dynamics of the institution and what are going to be the topics and guides that I will use to plan future topics.

Week 2 practicum 2
Today, 4°A continue with the new topic related to countable and uncountable nouns, this topic is being developed based on the class guides created by the high school and some activities that I proposed to reinforce what they learned. But for what is perceive in this class in particular, is the good level of comprehension this students have and how curious are in terms of new activivities, Additionally, they understand easily in thich cases objects, things, food are countable or uncountable in the first explanation, that for me was a good sign for the next topics. Now, in the case of 2°B was a little bit different, because they have some problems to understand simple instructions or activities, in addition, in this group there are at least six students that are part of the "programa amor" (students with diverse learning) so for the first topic "the alphabet" the main teacher and I have to use other alternatives such as songs, draws with the pronunciation in it, etc.

Week 3 practicum 3
For this day, the main teacher and I trying to finished the topic "The aphabet" making different activities. In which students should listen a nice song with the same title of the topic and also part of the institutional guides. also we use some interactive activities where based on th sound they have to choose the right letter, we solve some writings to reinforce what they learn and what things they have to keep working on (2°B). On the other hand, in the case of 4°A we worked in a new topic "There is, there are", in this class in particular, Valeria (the main teacher in this grade) suggests to work with the institutional guide because it can helps me to appy different kinds of activities like videos, interactive games and others. Additionally, what motivates me the most, it is how much interest they show in this subject, which is very surprising.

Week 4 practicum 4
This friday, we use the class time to continue learning all related to "there is and there" and using interactive platforms as teaching tool to make students more interested in the activity and show them others ways to learn topics like this. Also, I would say both groups but in particular 4°A understand very easily and participate frecuently which is interesting. So, for today we use a platform called Genially, where they played some games, in which the main purpose was practicing and have fun. Two hours later, I applied a similar activity with 2°B but in this opportunity was related to Personal Information, here, students were really connected with the topic and also their participation were very satisfactory.

Week 5 practicum 5
Today, in 4°A we still working in the last week topic "There is, there are". For this activity, we watched a short video which had the intention to help them improve possible dificulties related to the topic. However, this video also had as purpose the answer of some quiestions (Questionnare) and test how much they have absorbed. After this I help teacher Valeria checking some workshops and the appication of some exercises located in the institutional book. On the other hand, in 2°B for teacher's recommendation we worked in the institutional book, where students solved some questions related to "color" (programa amor) and "greetings and farewells" for regular students. This groups love to participate which is great, so at least for me the exprience is better.

Week 6 practicum 6
For this day, I applied an activity for 4°A related to the new thematic "Demostrative Pronouns", this activity was developed virtually because Medellin started a serie of quaratines so that makes high schools to use this study model to avoid more delays. Back to the topic, I use some didactical sheets in which based on some images they have to identify when we use (this, that, these and those), Also, Valeria one of the main teachers in my practicum, asks me if I can help her to support students with problems to understand the use of these pronouns and of course in this case that we have been working virtually. Now, in the case of 2°B, and also as a teacher's petition, she asks me If I can prepare a class in which I explain to them the differences and uses of "greetings and farewells" for regular students and "The weather" for "programa amor". As I mention before students are very helpful and attentive.

Week 7 practicum 7
For today, In 4°A we keep working on the last topic "Demostrative pronouns", so, for this day I decided to apply some workshops, this had as purpose to practice skills such writings, pronunciation and of couse a little bit of grammar. In general they are very organized and respectful but at same time they love speak and propose new things which is cool because, children do not like to participate. On the other hand 2°B I have the opportunity to preparing these students for an exam related to The color, alphabet, grettings and farewells y personal information, the good thing is that everyone get good grades, Additionally with students of the "Programa amor" we continue working with the topic "the weather" where we play some fun games to practice this theme, so that quite nicely for me and the whole experience was very productive.

Week 8 practicum 8
For today, In 4°A these sessions were completely different (some modifications), these week was the celebration of the Spanish and english's day, so for this specific day my practicum had to be diiferent but of course with teacher Olga's approval, this day, we made some hand craft related to Colombia's multicultural diversity, don quijote de cervantes, we watched some videos in commemoration of this day for spanish and english speakers Then , in 2°B I design activities to mix them with Victorias's evercises because it has as purpose to apply an reinforcement exam for students who has not good grades during this semester ("the alphabet, colors, grettings and farewells, etc"), so here I would say both classes were very motivational.

Week 9 practicum 9
For today, In 4°A we worked in a new topic "Countries and nationalities" so, as introduction of the topic, they watched a short animated video-song and then I proposed two interactive workshops, where they have to associate, practice pronunciation and writing. These activities in particular are so crucial because can give them tools to improve their communicative competences and of course make the experience less stressful for them. Now, in 2°B we also started a new topic "The feeligs" this has as purpose to teach them how to say and use feellings such as happy, sad, surprised, scared, boring, angry and others. In addition, how to use them in different types of senteces, for me today's experience was very productive, funny and enriching.

Week 10 practicum 10
This friday, In 4°A, I finished one of the two activities that I planned last week and applied one of the activities that missing (Countries and nationalities) and additional one. All the exercises had as intention to develop in students the capacity of distinguish when someone is talking about a country and in what cases someone is talking about people's nationalities, this week the practicum also was really productive becuase they improve their pronunciation, every class, you can see how much they are advancing which is great. Now in contrast, in 2°B was the opposite because the teacher asked me for this class only apply the activities that are part of the institutional book, so I have continue with the topics in that order, in this again with "the feelings" topic but in a way I understand why we have to work like that and the only conclusion is that this group in particuolar has a diversity in terms of learning that makes them more visual and kinesthetic. By the way, I worked with the students of "El programa amor" the topic of "Days of the week" so here as introduction, they watched and listen a song where they could have the first contact in how to pronounce, what the order, etc. However, the students of this program have problems in terms od reading and specialy in writing, that is why, with these students we have to use pre-school guides.

Week 11 practicum 11
Today's practicum was very interesting, In 4°A we had been finishing the topic related to "Countries and Nationalities", in which students do some activities. In one of them, they had to answer some questions that the main teacher proposed based on the institutional guide, this had as function to start a discussion where they can tell, fun facts about different foreign places like their language, location, culture and demonyms. This activity was so great because you can hear how much the students have been developed the differents skills but specially the speaking skill and every time you can noticed a good level of vocabulay and grammar which is great for these ages. Now, In 2°B we still working on the topic "The animals", here in this class in particular I tried to make something different that why I applied an interactive activity and some educational online game, of course related to the topic. However, I also have to apply some exercises from the institutional book for indication of the 2°B main teacher, to be honest this situation limits sometimes my practicum process because i cannot propose more dynamic and interesting activities, so it is a little bit frustating. Finally, with students of "El programa amor" we still working on the topic "Days of the week", first we waych a video-song with the same name of topic abd then do some handcraft with some material inside the institutional book, in general the experience with these kids are so nice, they are so attentive and receptive.

Week 12 practicum 12
For today's practicum, I started the day with 4°A, in this group I worked the topic "Directions and places of the city", In which the students based on a video called This is the way, they had to solve two easy workshops, the objective was that they can understand in very easy way in what cases people use certain phrases to describe how to go to a place and what would be the possible expressions for it. In general, today the experience was incredible gratifying because all of them were in a wonderful disposition and what impressed me the most, was the retentivity they show during clas and how much lexicon these kids have. Then, I worked 2°B, with the regular students I still teaching the topic the animals and for the students of "programa amor" we started a new topic related to "Months of the year". in both cases I tried to use playfu activities to make this and next classes a little bit more different and implementing others ways to make students understand easily and fun. And I can notice that this kind of activities are more attractive anf of couse more interesting because always they looking for new ways of learning and not learn with the same methodologies, which for me was very surprising.

Week 13 Practicum 13
Today was the last day of my practicum at the Alfred Binet High school, this day started with the group fourth A where we began the class with the topic "Places and Directions" here in particular was not the exception all the students were so attentive, the level of compromise is really good. When I was applying the activities I can notice they have a nice level of vocabulary, speaking skills and interest. At the end of the session they say to me that feel sad becuase it was my last day with them, which makes feel grateful and happy for the role I had there and my job was valuable for them. On the other hand, in the group second B my last day there, was also satisfactory it makes me feel proud for all the things I achieved specially with the students of "programa amor" they in particular advanced so much, they learned so many things and for me that is priceless. However, the regular students of second B also were very supportive, their attention was also good maybe inn moments you can see a little bit of disorder but it is ok I know that is something merely of the age.

Of course, all these concepts connected with the communicative skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing). However, teachers from this high school must consider some aspects in terms of diagnosis, improvement plans, strategies and others. This area also has as purpose the formation of students not just in the acquisition of a second language but also using different methodologies to develop language skills in the regular students and students with special needs.
This area has as objective, the development of abilities related to expression and production of texts, which are crucial in the acquisition of second languages like English. On the other hand, the English area in this place pretend to motivate their students creating environments to improve those difficulties that some of them can have during the learning process. That is why teachers propose an idea in which they provide tutorials some days of the week that helps in cases where the students do not understand the topics that were offered at the beginning of the year.

hello everyone, my name is Walter Barrientos Villa, I am studying English-Spanish teaching at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana since 2017. This is my last semester, and I am very excited to finally apply everything I learned in this new experience, since I was in elementary school, I always been a fan of languages and its influence in how we communicate, interact and the possibility to know other cultures. Also, every day I have been working in communicative skills watching English and American TV shows, reading and years ago I took some English language courses at the Colombo Americano Medellin.

WHAT DO I KNOW ABOUT THE ALFRED BINET?
This semester I am going to be at Colegio Alfred Binet doing my pedagogical practicum (English), in this place you will find different types of population such as regular students, students with special needs and students with different economic statements. This institution works with grades since pre-school to 9°grade, where focus its efforts in developing artistic skills as transverse axis between scientific, human, technological, experiential, and spiritual disciplines. On the other hand, this high school has as purpose to encourage their students. In the creation of artistic scenarios like music, theater and dancing. All of this based on sensitive, academic and creative environments. Additionally, this high school has multi-dimensional pedagogical model, in which different processes based on educability and teaching allow the correct application of educational practices that enhances some aspects such as know, do, interact and be.
